I’m sorry for my long absence. I had some medical challenges that took some time to recover from. But I’m back and will be catching up on your regularly scheduled programming over the next couple days. So let’s drive right in.

This is the 50th anniversary of the movie Jaws, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfus.
Normally, this is where I’d summarize the first act of the movie, but the movie is so iconic, I feel I can skip that bit.
I watched the anniversary presentation on NBC with my partner, who’d never seen the movie before. It got a couple good jumps out of her and after it was over, she said she enjoyed it. I hadn’t watched it in a long time, but I owned the double VHS special edition. It was a fun trip down nostalgia lane for me and I was pleased I got to share the experience with my partner.
It was also cool to watch a movie on TV, something I haven’t done in years. Stay with me on this. So much of our lives are on demand, it was good to slow it down. My partner and I chatted during commercials, talking about what she thought was going to happen next. She made the observation that the music is strangely jaunty, outside of the familiar shark’s theme. After she said that, I couldn’t unhear it. I’m not saying I’m going to go out of my way to watch movies on TV, but it was a nice change of pace.
